It Was Never Just Marketing: Seven Years of Heights

Seven years ago, Heights was just one person 🙋🏻‍♀️with a laptop, a background in brand strategy, and a belief that marketing could be more human.

Since then, this little idea has grown into something bigger than any one person.

Over the years, Heights has

  • Worked with clients in 9 countries on 3 continents
  • Served as fractional strategic advisor to over 25 companies
  • Written over 50 messaging guides
  • Given keynotes and workshops in 4 states
  • Facilitated 5 masterminds with 39 participants
  • Helped some clients 4x their size
  • Completed 3 professional certifications
  • Employed eight different working parents in 4 states—smart, talented professionals juggling deadlines and kid pickups, strategy decks, and sports tournaments
  • Worked with over 15 partner agencies, dedicated experts in video, ads, SEO, graphic design and more.

Together, we’ve delivered roadmaps that helped leaders see their marketing—and their mission—more clearly.

During this time, I have learned that:

  • The right relationships really do change everything.
A strong network isn’t just a safety net — it’s the sanity, the sounding board, and the springboard. Nearly every meaningful opportunity we’ve had started because someone said, “You need to meet them.” Those connections have shaped our path in ways we couldn’t have planned but are deeply grateful for.
  • Partnerships make the unpredictable seasons not just manageable, but genuinely joyful.
Some years we grew almost effortlessly. Other years required grit, creativity, and a lot of late-night problem solving. Through every kind of season, the people beside us — creative partners, agency collaborators, and fellow parents balancing work and life — turned uncertainty into steady momentum. Their presence made the work lighter and the wins sweeter.
  • Staying resilient matters more than getting everything right.
Clients change, teams evolve, and markets shift. What lasts is how you show up. The leaders who stay humble, finish well, and refuse to burn bridges always find their footing again — we’ve seen that firsthand. Even former employers have come back around and hired us, which remains one of the highest compliments.
  • Generosity compounds.
Sharing what we know has never once diminished us. It’s opened doors, strengthened teams, and helped our clients grow with confidence. Gatekeeping is small-game thinking — clarity and generosity create momentum for everyone.
  • A bigger “why” makes the work sustainable — and meaningful.
For us, that “why” is rooted in faith, in our families, and in truly knowing the people we serve. It has been a deep privilege to celebrate the arrival of children, grieve the passing of loved ones, and so many life moments in between. Understanding our clients’ deeper purposes — what matters to them beyond the metrics — has shaped how we support them. Celebrating not just their business wins, but the real lives behind those wins, keeps the work grounded, joyful, and worth doing.

We’ve built this company around flexibility, empathy, and excellence—and we’re incredibly proud of the story we’re still telling.

Thanks to every client, collaborator, and cheerleader who’s been part of the journey. You’ve made this possible. 💛
